Job Description
Join New Century Hospice as a Hospice Registered Nurse and lead with heart in the East Dallas area. Transform end-of-life care by delivering personalized, meaningful hospice and palliative care to patients and families facing life-limiting illness.
What You'll Do
- Serve as primary point of contact, guiding patients and families through their hospice journey with dignity and compassion.
- Deliver skilled nursing care and perform initial/ongoing assessments in patients' homes, assisted living, or institutional settings.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized plans of care and adjust based on patient condition.
- Provide emotional, physical, and spiritual support to patients and families, including education on medications, symptom management, and end-of-life processes.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate patient updates to ensure timely, appropriate interventions.
Requirements
- Current RN license to practice nursing in the state of employment.
- Minimum one year RN experience in acute care, oncology, long-term care, hospice, or home health.
- Current CPR Certification, valid driver's license, and current automobile insurance.
- Strong patient assessment skills, excellent communication abilities, and sensitivity to end-of-life issues.
- Knowledge of hospice philosophy, managed care principles, and regulatory guidelines (Medicare, Medicaid, ACHC).

Depending on the facility, you may also handle admissions paperwork, manage wound care, supervise medication techs, and respond to emergencies. The documentation load in senior living is significant — state surveys and compliance requirements mean thorough charting is non-negotiable. Many nurses in this setting say the most rewarding part is knowing their residents personally and being able to notice subtle changes that a rotating hospital nurse might miss.
