Job Description

Join the Texas Health and Human Services Commission as a Home Health and Hospice Nurse Surveyor protecting residents' health and safety. Conduct on-site inspections and investigations in long-term care settings to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

What You'll Do
  • Conduct on-site licensure inspections and comprehensive surveys at home health and hospice agencies
  • Investigate complaints and incidents including abuse, neglect, and exploitation allegations
  • Complete detailed inspection reports documenting deficiencies and regulatory findings
  • Revisit agencies to verify correction of previously cited violations
  • Communicate findings with agency staff during exit conferences and testify at hearings when needed
Requirements
  • Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact state
  • One year minimum experience in institutional, home health, hospice, or long-term care settings
  • Ability to work independently and handle 80% travel including statewide and overnight travel
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to complete federal and state training programs
  • Pass fingerprint criminal background check and E-Verify employment eligibility verification
