Avir at Lancaster - Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) – Staffing Coordinator Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated, organized, and detail-oriented Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) Staffing Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating staffing schedules, maintaining adequate nursing coverage, and supporting the daily operations of the nursing department. This role ensures that open shifts are filled promptly with qualified personnel to maintain quality resident care and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and experience in long-term care and nursing home environments. Key Responsibilities Coordinate and manage staffing schedules for nursing department personnel. Fill open nursing shifts and ensure adequate staffing coverage at all times. Collaborate with nursing leadership and department managers to identify staffing needs. Maintain daily staffing records and scheduling documentation. Communicate schedule updates, call-offs, and staffing concerns to appropriate leadership. Assist with staff replacement for call-ins, vacations, and emergency absences. Ensure staffing practices remain compliant with state, federal, and facility regulations. Monitor overtime and staffing patterns to support budgetary goals. Support employee retention and staff satisfaction initiatives. Participate in recruitment activities, including candidate screening and onboarding coordination. Maintain confidentiality of employee and resident information in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Assist nursing staff when needed to support resident care operations. Maintain accurate staffing reports, attendance records, and payroll-related documentation. Promote teamwork and professionalism within the nursing department. Provide excellent customer service to residents, families, staff, and visitors. And other duties as assigned by the DON. Qualifications Current and active Registered nurse/ Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in good standing. Minimum of 1–2 years of nursing experience preferred. Prior staffing or scheduling experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or nursing home environment preferred. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage staffing emergencies effectively. Proficient in point click care systems and scheduling software. Knowledge of healthcare regulations and staffing requirements. Required Skills & Clinical Experience The ideal candidate should possess knowledge and experience in the following areas: PCC and healthcare scheduling systems Long-term care and nursing home experience Critical care and acute care exposure Alzheimer’s and memory care Senior care and hospice care Infectious disease management IV infusion and venipuncture skills Tube feeding and catheter care Ventilator management Patient assessment and vital signs monitoring Acute pain management Medical documentation and records management Intake and admission procedures HIPAA compliance Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Medical terminology and physiology knowledge Physical examination support Strong nursing and patient care skills Benefits Dental Insurance Health Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Paid Time Off (PTO) Work Location: In Person

A typical shift starts with medication pass and resident assessments. You will review overnight notes from the previous shift, check vitals for residents on your watch list, and coordinate with CNAs on any changes in condition. Mid-shift usually involves documentation, family communication, and working with physicians on care plan updates — often by phone or telehealth rather than in-person rounds.

Depending on the facility, you may also handle admissions paperwork, manage wound care, supervise medication techs, and respond to emergencies. The documentation load in senior living is significant — state surveys and compliance requirements mean thorough charting is non-negotiable. Many nurses in this setting say the most rewarding part is knowing their residents personally and being able to notice subtle changes that a rotating hospital nurse might miss.
