Responsibilities and Duties In this role, you will have the chance to perform personal care activities that assist the client with activities of daily living, which include (but are not limited to): Assisting with transferring/moving client from place to place throughout their home Performing housekeeping activities which include (but are not limited to): vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry and cleaning the bathroom Preparing meals and snacks according to instructions Accompanying client on errands or medical appointments Bathing/Showering/Dressing/Shaving Medication reminders Assisting with prescribed range of motion exercises Dementia care Companionship activities such as reading, music, puzzles, etc. Qualifications and Skills: High school graduate or G.E.D. certificate preferred. What to Expect in This Role Day-to-Day

Your day typically begins with morning routines — helping residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, and getting to breakfast. Throughout the shift, you will assist with meals, escort residents to activities, monitor for changes in behavior or health, and document everything in the care log. Vital signs checks happen at regular intervals, and you will be the first person to notice if something seems off with a resident.

The team dynamic is close-knit. You will work alongside other aides, report to the charge nurse, and communicate with families who visit. In memory care units, redirection and engagement activities are a big part of the role — keeping residents calm, oriented, and socially active. The work is physically and emotionally demanding, but many aides describe deep bonds with the residents they care for and a sense of purpose that keeps them in the field long-term.
