Job Description

Job Summary: The home health aide is a paraprofessional member of the home care team who works under the supervision of a registered nurse or therapist and performs various personal care services as necessary to meet the patient's needs. The home health aide is responsible for observing patients, reporting these observations and documenting observations and care performed. Job Responsibilities: Caring for the elderly, disabled client in their own home as if he/she were a close friend or a member of your own family, providing compassionate emotional and social support and companionship. Assisting client with daily needs such as bathing, grooming, dressing and meal preparation. Maintaining a safe and comfortable environment, including light housekeeping and laundry. Providing transportation or running errands, including keeping all receipts for purchases made on behalf of customer. Keep a daily client log on all services rendered for given day. Attend monthly employee development meetings. These meeting will include videos, audio trainings, and general training. Position Qualifications: Self-motivated and compassionate caregiver At least 18 years of age Provide copy of CNA license Trained in first aid/CPR procedures Reliable transportation Current Driver’s License Pass BCI/FBI state required criminal background check Skills Required: Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given. Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision. Throughout the shift, you will assist with meals, escort residents to activities, monitor for changes in behavior or health, and document everything in the care log. Vital signs checks happen at regular intervals, and you will be the first person to notice if something seems off with a resident.

The team dynamic is close-knit. You will work alongside other aides, report to the charge nurse, and communicate with families who visit. In memory care units, redirection and engagement activities are a big part of the role — keeping residents calm, oriented, and socially active. The work is physically and emotionally demanding, but many aides describe deep bonds with the residents they care for and a sense of purpose that keeps them in the field long-term.
