Job Description

Good Shepherd Hospice is seeking a compassionate candidate for a CNA serving patients and their families in Ft. Worth and surrounding communities. The ideal candidate must be passionate about providing quality care and excellent service to patients and their families. Previous experience in hospice, home health, or geriatrics preferred The CNA assists the patient and family in achieving physical and emotional comfort as outlined in the patient's plan of care Provides support services under the supervision of our clinical supervisors Promotes positive, supportive, respectful communication to patients and their families Certified by the state of where services are being provided as a Certified Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide. Minimum of one year of experience in hospice, home health or geriatric care preferred (but not required for the right candidate) Must be of high integrity including maintenance of confidential information including all patient records Works as a team player, following directions and adhering to defined care plans Demonstrated commitment to the hospice philosophy of care Can successfully pass background checks Can successfully pass background checks & drug screen

What to Expect in This Role Day-to-Day

Your day typically begins with morning routines — helping residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, and getting to breakfast. Throughout the shift, you will assist with meals, escort residents to activities, monitor for changes in behavior or health, and document everything in the care log. Vital signs checks happen at regular intervals, and you will be the first person to notice if something seems off with a resident.

The team dynamic is close-knit. You will work alongside other aides, report to the charge nurse, and communicate with families who visit. In memory care units, redirection and engagement activities are a big part of the role — keeping residents calm, oriented, and socially active. The work is physically and emotionally demanding, but many aides describe deep bonds with the residents they care for and a sense of purpose that keeps them in the field long-term.
