Job Description

The Lifted Difference At Lifted Hospice, our mission is simple yet powerful: Helping people live life to the fullest . We serve the communities where we live and work by delivering compassionate, clinically excellent end-of-life care. With a commitment to dignity, comfort, and quality of life, we walk alongside patients and their families—meeting them where they are, when they need it most. What makes us different is how we show up. We care for patients and families like they’re our own—and we support each other the same way. At Lifted Hospice, you’ll be part of a culture built on trust, unity, and joy. We serve from a place of favor, and we never forget the sacredness of what we do. A Calling with Impact At Lifted Hospice, our CNAs are more than caregivers — they are the hands and heart of compassionate, dignified care. In hospice care your reliability and compassion have lasting impact. As a field-based CNA, you’ll serve patients in their home or care setting by providing essential personal care services under the supervision of a registered nurse. You’ll work closely with families, support the care team, and help bring comfort and peace — one visit at a time. Your Role in the Mission As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Lifted Hospice, you play a crucial role in bringing dignity, comfort, and consistency to our patients and their families. You are often the most present member of the care team — the one who helps a patient feel seen, safe, and supported every day. Key Responsibilities Include: Following the Plan of Care – Providing direct personal care under the supervision of the RN, in alignment with the CNA Plan of Care and patient preferences. Assisting with mobility and safety – Helping patients transfer, move, and ambulate safely — while maintaining a calm, clean, and secure environment. Observing and reporting – Noticing and promptly reporting any changes in the patient’s condition or behavior to the RN, supporting proactive care. Practicing infection control – Following all safety and hygiene protocols to protect the health of patients, families, and teammates. Respecting privacy and dignity – Upholding patient confidentiality, respecting personal property, and communicating with kindness and professionalism. Skills and Qualifications Completion of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program. Active CNA certification in the State of Texas. High school diploma or equivalent required. At least one year of experience in hospice, home health, or a similar care setting is preferred. Compassionate presence and strong communication skills. Basic understanding of hospice care principles and a heart to serve. Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English. Comfortable using a smartphone for communication and documentation. Valid Texas driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto liability insurance Where You’ll Work In this role, you’ll serve patients wherever they call home — whether in a private residence, assisted living, nursing facility, or memory care setting. You’ll provide personal care in varied environments, both indoors and outdoors, and may be exposed to infectious diseases and bodily fluids as part of your essential work. You’ll also regularly connect with your local care team to stay aligned on patient needs and ensure care is consistent, respectful, and personalized. At Lifted Hospice, we don’t just work shifts — we carry the mission forward together. Benefits for Full-Time Team Members Include: Paid Time Off Employer paid life insurance policy Employer contributions toward employee health and dental insurance Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, and both short-term and long-term disability coverage 401(k) Plan — includes discretionary profit-sharing contribution(s)

What Most Job Listings Don’t Tell You

General overview for this role type — specific duties and requirements vary by employer.

Care aide and CNA positions in senior living are hands-on roles that require both physical stamina and genuine emotional resilience. In Texas, CNAs must hold an active certification through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, while caregiver and aide positions may not require formal certification but typically involve on-the-job training.

What catches many new hires off guard is the physical demand — you will be on your feet for the full shift, assisting with transfers, repositioning, and mobility support. Memory care roles add another layer, as working with residents experiencing dementia or Alzheimer's requires specialized patience and de-escalation skills. Most facilities offer shift differentials for evenings and weekends, and many in the DFW area provide tuition assistance programs for aides looking to advance into nursing.

What to Expect in This Role Day-to-Day

Based on typical senior living facilities in the DFW area.

Your day typically begins with morning routines — helping residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, and getting to breakfast. Throughout the shift, you will assist with meals, escort residents to activities, monitor for changes in behavior or health, and document everything in the care log. Vital signs checks happen at regular intervals, and you will be the first person to notice if something seems off with a resident.

The team dynamic is close-knit. You will work alongside other aides, report to the charge nurse, and communicate with families who visit. In memory care units, redirection and engagement activities are a big part of the role — keeping residents calm, oriented, and socially active. The work is physically and emotionally demanding, but many aides describe deep bonds with the residents they care for and a sense of purpose that keeps them in the field long-term.
